Set up SocratiCode with Cursor

Connect SocratiCode to Cursor with its MCP install link, index one project, and verify a first semantic code search.

What you need

The direct MCP setup uses the default local Qdrant and Ollama stack.

Connect the MCP server

Open the SocratiCode Cursor install link and choose user scope.

Start a new Agent chat in the project. Under Customize → MCPs, confirm socraticode is connected, then request codebase_status in the chat.

Index and verify one project

Ask Agent to run codebase_index for the project. Check codebase_status until indexing completes, then use codebase_search for a known function or feature.

Open one returned source location and confirm it belongs to the expected project. The default watcher handles later file changes while the MCP process is running.

Update the connection

After a SocratiCode engine release, reconnect the MCP server and start a new Agent chat so npx can resolve the current package.

For sensitive projects, review source-code boundaries before indexing. For a system split across sibling projects, read cross-repository context.
